Project Management / Programme Management Jobs
Project Management jobs are unique and finite in nature, always having a specific end date/time frame and involves the management by an individual (Project Manager) to organise, plan, control and deploy key milestones, deliverables and resources from the inception of the project to roll out meeting the agreed customer requirements. Project Managers are skilled at using specific templates, techniques and methodologies to manage the project life-cycle.
Programme Management jobs involve aligning and managing a group of projects or work streams, often with no end date which are required to meet or exceed business goals according to a pre-determined methodology or life-cycle. Program management focuses on closer integration, closely knit communication and more control over program budgets, resources and priorities.
Project Co-ordinators, Project Assistants or new Project Managers should have good IT skills and will ideally have had previous experience of how businesses, systems and processes operate possibly having previously held an administrative role or having had some basic level of experience in business analysis or development. APMP Introductory/Foundation, PRINCE2 Foundation, CAPM Certification or Six Sigma yellow Belt will likely be held or be being studied towards.
Junior Project Managers typically will have two years' plus experience managing non complex projects and would normally have had involvement in previous Projects as a Project co-ordinator or Assistant and will hold accreditations such as PRINCE2 Foundation, APMP Foundation/Practitioner, PMP and Six Sigma Green Belt.
Project Managers will normally have three/four years' plus experience managing non complex projects and hold accreditations such as APMP Practitioner, PRINCE2 Practitioner and Six Sigma Black Belt.
Senior Project Managers will typically have five/six years' plus previous experience managing technically complex projects.
Programme Managers/Directors will likely have six/seven years' plus experience managing complex projects/programmes and hold accreditations such as MSP, PgMP or APMP Professional.
Other accreditations that employers will look for include certification through BCS (British Computer Society), PMI (Project Management Institute).
