Currently sought-after programming skills include R and Python, and understanding of machine learning like TensorFlow and PyTorch. Existing knowledge of AI ethics, cloud computing and big data as well as analytical abilities are desired for most AI positions.

Security and compliance sectors are also becoming more AI-aware with jobs such as risk managers, compliance officers, cybersecurity auditors, and governance specialists becoming vital to ensure data protection, legal and ethical compliance in emerging technologies.

The AI Act requires that companies such as those based in Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and elsewhere that provide AI services to the EU market must comply with the Act’s specifications, including its stringent requirements for high-risk AI systems, transparency obligations and prohibitions on certain AI practices like predictive policing and social scoring.
