Offshore IT services provider, Itex, has signed a partnership deal with local company, Sigma, to support its hardware engineering services to Channel Island businesses.

This is the second partnership deal of 2010, the first of which saw Itex enter into a partnership with TCB Consulting to help support delivery of its software development service. Through divesting these parts of the business, Itex will be well positioned to focus on providing a core suite of Managed and Professional Services - which 90% of Channel Island businesses already believe is one of the company's core competencies.

Dr Ian Jauncey, Chairman of Itex says, “Our Managed Services business has almost doubled in the last four years and we are seeing increasing interest in our service offerings which take advantage of the latest technology such as cloud computing. We are investing nearly £1million in housing our new data centre in Guernsey's state-of-the art Technology Park, as well as innovative systems and staff training, recruitment and

development to underpin our focus and growth in Managed and Professional services. In the non-core areas of hardware engineering and software development, we will continue to work closely with our new service partners to maintain high standards of service for existing and new customers.”

Sigma, a well-established Channel Islands IT services provider, has been in business for over 80 years. Employing 140 staff, they are perhaps the largest pan-island services business and remain focused on providing engineering support as core to their business. In Guernsey, the business has tripled its revenue over the past eight years and has grown its footprint on the island. Sigma already provides local engineering support for a number of the global technology companies including for example Hewlett Packard and Fujitsu.

With over 14 years experience, TCB Consulting has acquired an enviable portfolio of clients and systems within the software development and maintenance arenas. TCB count blue-chip companies like Shell, SAP, Merrill Lynch and Barclays amongst their client base. TCB has worked alongside Itex for many years to provide clients with software solutions, so formalising this relationship in the form of a partnership, is a natural progression.

To gear up for growth, Itex in Guernsey is planning a recruitment drive to meet the demand for an evolving portfolio of new Professional and Managed Services.

Guernsey Managing Director, Richard Parker says, “This is a very exciting time for Itex. We are already working with some of the largest companies in the financial and egaming sectors in Guernsey. The investment we're making in our Braye Road data centre and in the recruitment of new staff signifies our optimistic view of the role that new technology will play in the island's emerging industries.

Itex is the largest offshore IT services provider, with more than 30 years of experience in providing independent advice and solutions which help client leverage business value from the appropriate deployment of technology. Working closely with global technology partners like Hewlett Packard, Cisco and Microsoft, Itex is able to provide world-class infrastructure and service solutions to our clients in offshore jurisdictions.

Itex has offices in the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey and offers managed services to other jurisdictions such as Bermuda where clients take advantage of Itex's remote network monitoring service.
